The many different kinds of "bioplastics" or biodegradable plastics are often used somehow vague. Depending on the application they are divided into biodegradable plastics and the so-called bioplastics, which must be produced from renewable plastics.
Biodegradable Plastics Biodegradable Plastics
characterized by the fact that they are micro-organisms, hydrolysis and enzymes degraded in the soil. This is also compostable plastics, which in areas of Agriculture and the packaging industry are already well established. These plastics are based on additive polyolefin (PE) or petroleum-based materials. The biodegradability of starch-polyester blends or defined in the European Standard EN 13432, which states that the plastic must be removed within 6-10 weeks in a large composting completely.
Real bioplastics
Part of this group of biodegradable plastics is one of the bioplastics, which are in contrast to petroleum-based plastics are made from renewable raw materials (eg corn).
Biocompatible plastics
